At the orientation, get to know your tour directors and travel companions, and learn the details of your upcoming trip. Finish the evening with a Welcome Dinner in a centrally located restaurant nearby.

24 of April Wednesday

  • Valencia, Spain – Breakfast, Bocairent, Xativa, Banyeres de Mariola Festival and Tour, dinner included

After breakfast we will visit the Valencia province mountains cities in a full day excursion. With the morning mist at her feet, the castle of Xátiva stands high above the valley along a ridge overlooking a natural passageway from the coast to the interior of Spain. Heartland of the Borgia family, it has seen rich and opulent times as well as war and devastation. Burned to the ground in 1707 by the Spanish king Phillip V, and rebuilt, it has many surprises in its streets and castle.

Bocairent lies hidden in the Mariola Mountains, and is flushed by the river Clariano or ‘clear’ in English. Of Moorish origin, the town lies on a hill filled with caves and tunnels. Full of cats and curious people, Bocairent feels like another world where you can feel at ease as you walk along the ‘Magical Route’ under fig trees and between cave houses and vegetable patches. We will visit the Cuevas de los Moros and the Pou Clar mountain springs. Also, we will try out the stuffed bell peppers and local casserole dishes for lunch in a local restaurant.

In the early evening we will head to Banyeres de Mariola to admire the spectacular celebration of the literally in English Moors and Christians, is a set of festival activities which are celebrated in many towns and cities of Spain mainly in the southern Valencian Community. According to popular tradition the festivals commemorate the battles, combats and fights between Moors (i.e. Muslims) and Christians during the period known as Reconquista (from the 8th century through the 15th century).

The festivals represent the capture of the city by the Moors and the subsequent Christian reconquest. The people who take part in the festival are enlisted in local associations called comparsas (companies that represent the Christian or Moor legions). The festivals last for several days, and feature festive parades with bombastic costumes loosely inspired by Medieval fashion. Christians wear fur, metallic helmets, and armor, fire loud harquebuses and ride horses. In contrast, Moors wear ancient Arab costumes, carry scimitars, and ride real camels. The festival develops among shots of gunpowder, medieval music, and fireworks, and ends with the Christians winning a simulated battle around a castle. After the festivities we will have dinner in a local restaurant and back to Valencia.

25 of April Thursday

  • Valencia, Spain – Breakfast, Market visit and Lunch Paella class, and Tapas dinner Tour included

To start, we will enjoy a lovely pastry and “pick-me-up” coffee at the Museum of the Ancient Art of Silk (Arte Mayor de la Seda). From there, we will head to the Mercat Central, where we will share with you interesting tales about its origins and evolution throughout history. Get ready for a culinary adventure because you are guaranteed to learn a lot! The chefs will give you all the necessary tips and instructions for cooking paella as well as share valuable information about the history of paella and the varieties of rice that should or should not be used! The class will be taught by professionally trained Spanish chefs and are designed for both accomplished and novice cooks. The menu is frequently updated to include local and seasonal ingredients and includes an appetizer, salad, and classic paella. Also available will be fresh fruits with sangria that you will prepare during the cooking class, back to our hotel.

In the early evening we will head to Valencia old town to enjoy the especially rich and dynamic ambient, and is truly unlike any Spanish city you will visit! During the tour, we will taste the most authentic tapas like Esgarraet (roasted red pepper), grilled vegetables, fresh fish and much more! Some Valencian places keep the popular and traditional flavors alive while other restaurants approach tradition with an innovative spirit.

On this tour, we will take you to the best dining places in Valencia, where locals like to go to for the most authentic tapas and drinks! We will focus on tasting seasonal products with traditional elaborations in places that have unforgettable special ingredients meant to deliver a foodie experience through the city’s downtown to find some of the best “don’t miss” dining spots. Some of the wonderful dishes will include regional specialty ingredients such as fried fish, tomatoes, olive oil, red pepper, and rice, making sure you get a taste of them all!

We will also visit the most historic spots in Valencia such as, Plaça Redona, Plaça del Mercat, Plaça del Carme, Plaça de Tossal, Mercat Mossen Sorrell and Placa de la Tapineria and learn inside information that most tourists would never find out on their visit to Valencia!

After breakfast we will head in our private coach to this excursion into the mountains and villages of Valencia to a place that few visitors to Valencia know of. Small mountain villages, olive and almond orchards, canyons and forests are some of the things we will see, not to mention the surprises! The gorgeous thermal springs of Montanejos is an adventure you do not want to miss. On this day-trip we take care of all the logistics (goggles, wetsuits and swimming shoes) so that you can enjoy this adventure. This unique tour takes you along the coast, through the orchards, into the villages, along rivers and up into caves and through waterfalls and nature at its best. We have the chance to swim in the hot springs year-round, as they are constantly rising at 25°C. This mineral spring water is known to contain properties that cleanse and revitalize the skin. (Swimsuits, towels or sandals not included)

In the morning, we will check out after breakfast from our hotel and depart from the center of Valencia at the scheduled time and head to The Costa Blanca on a luxury air-conditioned coach. Discovering this mystical coast could take a lifetime. But we will make it easy for you and take you to some of its most charming corners. See the Rock of Calpe, known as the Gibraltar of the East. Drive along the coastal road above the sea and see villages like Altea with its medieval heart and Villajoyosa, with its colorful beachfront and chocolate factory. We will also explore the best coves and swimming spots to soak in the Mediterranean sun as we enjoy an ice-cream or seafood specialties. Other highlights will be Xabea, Denia and Benidorm. We will have lunch in a local restaurant in the beach front along the route until reach our destination in Elche.

In the early evening we will arrive to Elche and check in our centric hotel located in the World Heritage Site of Palm Grove, the bigger and better preserve garden of millennial palm trees in Europe, where you will feel like you are in a Bible garden and where we will enjoy a welcome dinner “al fresco” in these magic surroundings.

28 of April Sunday

After breakfast we will have a guided tour through the historic center of Elche. We will appreciate the different artistic styles that are combined in the ample monumental set formed by the Basilica of Santa María and the Castle-Palace of Altamira.

The culminating point of the tour of the city will come with a visit to the Palm Grove of Elche. Its more than 200,000 palms make it the largest in Europe. Elche’s sprawling palm groves were first planted by the Phoenicians, and the town’s distinctive stone buildings recall years of Moorish rule. The palm groves laid out under Arab rule during the 10th century, and find out how Moorish people used irrigation to transform the arid landscape. Enter the Basilica of Saint Mary, where the UNESCO-listed Mystery Play of Elche is staged each August, then discuss the two debated origin stories for the liturgical drama.

In the Huerto del Cura, National Artistic Garden, you’ll find a rock garden, ponds, sculptures, and a rare palm tree that’s more than 165 years old, and named for the former Empress of Austria We will go back to the Muslim period of the Iberian Peninsula to know the history of this botanical jewel, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. After the tour we will have lunch in a centric Elche restaurant.

In the morning, we will depart from Elche at the scheduled time and head to the countryside on a luxury air-conditioned coach where we will visit a Vineyard It consists of a visit to a typical winery guided by its owner. We will visit his house, winepress and museum, vineyard, fermentation building and barrel room. We will taste several wines (ex.white, rose, red and or sweet). We will taste an individual dish with local food such as coca (typical type of pasty), dried sausages, cheese, homemade bread with extra virgin olive oil and dried fig and date bread with lunch included.

After lunch we will head to Valencia and we will check in our central located hotel close to the modern area of the city, some free time to leisure before our next experience.

Board our air-conditioned vehicle and travel to the City of Arts and Sciences, an architectural complex featuring buildings dedicated to culture and science.

With your guides, explore the site’s four main sections: Hemispheric, Museu de les Ciències Principe Felipe, L’Umbracle, and Oceanographic. Marvel at their structures, pose for pictures, and discover a wealth of information inside each one. Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences features distinctive architecture and exhibitions, but getting the most out of the sprawling site can be difficult. Follow your guides as they leads you around the main museum sections, including the planetarium and aquarium, and then absorb stunning views as we ascend to the building’s 29th-floor terrace and absorb the city vista while we dine on a 3-course meal, including traditional tapas, served with free soft drinks, beer, or wine.

When fully satiated, with knowledge and food, relax as we’re taken back to our hotel.
